Shearing is Caring – An Extraordinary Challenge for Two Lifesaving Charities

On 3rd July 2026, at Bleanblwch Farm near Builth Wells, something truly remarkable will take place.

Two veteran shearers, Eifion Morgan of Talybont-on-Usk and William Workman, are stepping back into the shearing shed to take on an incredible challenge. Together, they will attempt to shear for eight hours in a bid to set an *unofficial senior veteran shearing record.

But this is about far more than breaking records.

Between them, Eifion and William bring over 100 years of experience in the shearing industry. Their careers have taken them across the UK and around the world — from the rolling hills of Wales to the vast stations of New Zealand and Australia, and even as far as the Falklands. Shearing has been their life’s work, their passion, and their craft.

Now, they’re using that lifetime of skill to give something back.

This challenge is being undertaken in support of two incredible charities: Prostate Cymru and the Wales Air Ambulance Charitable Trust — organisations that provide vital, lifesaving support to communities across Wales.

This isn’t their first fundraising effort. Previously, alongside a wider team of shearers and supporters, they helped raise an amazing £41,000 for good causes. Inspired by that success, they are coming together once again — this time as a duo — determined to go even further.

Through their campaign, “Shearing is Caring,” they hope to raise as much as possible to support those affected by prostate cancer and to help fund the critical emergency services provided by the Wales Air Ambulance.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.

By supporting this challenge, you are not only backing two extraordinary individuals pushing themselves to the limit, but also helping to fund essential services that save lives and support families when they need it most.

Please give what you can and help make this incredible effort count.

Together, we can turn hard work into hope — because truly, Shearing is Caring.
