I'm raising £42000 to fight against Marshcroft at Appeal Inquiry.

Story

Tring is under threat! The Marshcroft development plans to build 1400 homes on Green Belt land to the East of Tring, destroying the countryside, massively increasing the size of our town and putting unbearable strain on our roads and infrastructure.

With your generous help, Grove Fields Residents Associate (GFRA) have fought this development for many years. By engaging planning consultants and legal experts, and attending hearings to represent Tring, we have recently helped to achieve two fantastic outcomes:

1) The Dacorum Local Plan, which currently supports Marshcroft, has come under intense scrutiny by Planning Inspectors following the EiP hearings. They have told Dacorum Borough Council that they do not think the inclusion of Marshcroft is 'sound', and have told them to either justify, modify or remove it.

2) A separate, predatory planning application to build on the Marshcroft site was rejected by DBC at their planning committee, on the grounds that it was premature and made false claims about "grey belt" status.

The immediate problem now is that the developers are taking decision (2) to Appeal, and have chosen to do this via Public Inquiry on 6th October.

Given the Inspectors' recent opinion (1) about the site not being sound, we feel there is an increased chance that we can win at Appeal.

And the good news is that GFRA has already been granted "Rule 6" status which means we get a seat at the table during this Inquiry: we can represent Tring and have our experts cross-examine the developers, holding them to account.

But the downside is that participating in a Public Inquiry is very expensive. We feel certain that the developers deliberately pushed for this option hoping that we would be forced to back out due to the costs.

We need to raise £42,000 to engage the planning expertise that we need to fight and defeat these predatory plans at the Public Inquiry, and we are asking members, residents and supporters to please donate.

If we do not win, then the development will go ahead regardless of the local plan, BUT there is now a very real chance of success! Now is the time to double our efforts and make sure we throw everything we can at this - any donation, large or small, makes a difference, so please give whatever you can afford.

Donate today — protect Tring’s future.
