In July 2024, when on holidays in Tanzania, I met an incredible young man called Frank. Apart from being a brilliant safari tour guide, Frank is a very bright and socially-minded person. During our many conversations I discovered that he regularly donates to those less fortunate in his community (including to his local orphanage) and that his dream since childhood has been to build a primary school in his home town of Arusha where many street children are in desperate need of support. I was so inspired by his kind, clear vision that I decided, with the support of my family, I would help Frank realise his dream.

Families in Arusha face several challenges when it comes to educating their children: the lack of schools leads to overcrowding and many children have to walk long distances to school, the infrastructure is inadequate, sanitation is poor, student-teacher ratios are high and educational materials are limited. There are also gender disparities in education and poverty-related barriers to school attendance. During our holiday I asked if we might visit a local community school which Frank kindly arranged. Albeit in a different part of the country, chatting to the staff gave us a clear view of the acute need for educational support acrossTanzania.

Frank's parents have kindly donated farmland for this project, so we have a site! This is hugely exciting news - we are on our way ☀️ The funds we raise will cover the cost of labour and materials to construct a primary school for up to 420 children. We will post more details in the 'updates' section of this page as the project progresses.
