Story
This is my daughters Story: In November she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, life was perfect, she was tired as expected. A month later she passed blood clots which led to her being admitted to hospital a sample was sent off to Sheffield for histology. We were asked to go to the Weston park hospital in Sheffield within an hour of being there she had multiple tests. We were sat down and told the devastating news that she had a very rare form of cancer which had spread to her lung, liver and brain. She was admitted and started on a weekly Chemotherapy until August 2017. Her cancer levels dropped, but this cancer is very aggressive and after 7 weeks her levels started to rise again and the doctors decided to try a very new Immunotherapy treatment which she continued with until December 2017. On Boxing day she started with acute back pain and went to the doctors. By new years eve she was in terrible pain and by early afternoon she lost the use of her legs. An ambulance was called. New years eve was spent in different hospitals waiting for scans etc. She had a tumour growing compromising her spinal cord, we were told she needed urgent surgery as time was of the essence. On New Years days she had surgery, the cancer was back, it had again spread and she had more lesions in her brain and right lung so after recovering from surgery was back at the Weston Park Hospital having Chemotherapy, she still had no feeling in her legs. After having 4 months of high dose chemotherapy her levels returned to negative and a spinal rehabilitation hospital was found for her, which is where we are now. She is hopefully due to come home in 4 - 6 weeks and we would like to raise money for a lighter wheelchair that will improve her quality of life and allow her to be the mother she so desperately wants and deserves to be to her now 18 month old daughter. She has missed so much of her daughter growing up and she so richly deserves to be in her own home to enjoy her family to the full.
