I've raised £500 to Help fund my Psychology Level 1 Mental Health placement in Sri Lanka 2018.

Hello, thank you for visiting my Just Giving page!
This summer I have been lucky enough to be chosen to take part in a Level 1 Mental Health placement, based in Sri Lanka with SLV.Global. This is a five week placement which consists of one week training and four weeks working in clinical and communal settings to help individuals who are all at varying stages of their recovery.
SLV.Global is a company founded by psychology graduates back in 2010 who decided to put their degrees to good use and journey to Sri Lanka; where resources for those living with mental health were scarce. Since starting, the company have extended their placements to Bali and India, to further help communities that need extra support.
As someone who studies psychology, this placement offers me a chance to develop my practical work experience as well as increasing my knowledge and understanding as to how other countries approach mental health. My projects will include activity support, English for development, children's development and special needs work.
During the week I'll be living with my teammates and a Sri Lankan host family so I'll get the full experience of their culture and local life. The cost of my overall project is £1,550, with flights (£500+) and spending money (£500+) on top, coming to an average total of £2000. I will be fundraising as much as I can from now until I leave to cover as much of the cost as possible, as a student I don't have the money myself.
I am taking on the challenge of Veganuary and Dry January within the first month of 2018 (and I might decide to extend this) to ask for sponsors towards my funding. I will also be looking into doing a sponsored run within the next few months (I am terrible at running) so if anyone would like to sponsor me making a fool out of myself that could be possible!!
Absolutely ANY donations will be greatly appreciated, and I would love to share my experience with you during and after my placement. Hopefully I can offer as much beneficial help to the Sri Lankan community as possible.
If you'd like to find out anymore about what I'll be doing whilst I'm there, I have attached a link below to the SLV.Global page.
Thank you!
