Story
In the summer of 2017, I'm going to be walking 1000 miles to raise funds for the National Trust, for Bliss, and for restorations to the Robin Hood Theatre in Averham.
My plans (the route is subject to change while I get permission to walk through and stay on the land) are to walk from the Robin Hood Theatre in Averham to the Northern tip of the Isle of Skye - via the Pennine Way, the Lake District, Edinburgh and Fife, Inverness, the Caingorms, Fort William, the Kyle of Lochalsh, and up to Duntulm Castle - with necessary zigging and zagging to ensure the mileage reaches 1000!
The first £1000 I raise will go towards the restoration of the Robin Hood Theatre, where I volunteer as a member of the technical team. Everyone there is working so hard to get the theatre back into working order, and the quality of shows - both in house and touring - are superb. I'm proud to support the theatre and I want to give back for the experience they have given me.
The rest of the money will be split, with 50% going to a charity called Bliss that helps premature children, and 50% to the National Trust. My contribution to the National Trust is to say thank you for creating all these paths for me to walk on, and for preserving the beautiful natural life we have in our country. As a walker, I want to be able to give back what I take. The money going to Bliss is to help them support children born prematurely and to the families of those children. My oldest niece was born 3 months early, and was cared for at hospital for the first few months of her life. As a result, I want to be able to help support people that go through the same situation, and ensure that mother, baby, and extended family get the care and support they need to ensure the greatest chance of the child's survival.
