Michael, who everybody knew as "Ducky" was diagnosed with liver cancer at the age of 36.
In September 2014 he underwent a major operation to remove the tumour and 60% of his liver. He recovered well from the operation, which appeared to have been successful.
However, sadly on the 18th May 2016, Ducky received the terrible news that the cancer had returned. This time a 4cm tumour was attacking his pancreas!
CANCER - the word alone fills most people with dread. Everyone knows somebody who has had cancer, been lucky enough to survive cancer or been touched by cancer.
Even though he received the awful diagnosis that the cancer had returned and was terminal, Ducky remained positive throughout and continued living life as normal. He focused on spending time with his daughter Tilly and his friends and family.
He had happy memories of his childhood growing up in the East End of London. However, losing his Mum when he was 14 followed by the death of his Dad when he was 15, was not easy. Becoming a Dad to Tilly, who’s now 8, was everything. Tilly was his world!!
One of the things he talked about and wanted to do was raise money to put into a trust fund for Tilly. The thought of not being around to protect her, to teach her right from wrong, to watch her flourish into a young woman, and to provide for her was what scared him.
Unfortunately, Ducky was unable to fulfil his wish and sadly passed away on Friday 4th November 2016 at the age of 38.
In honour of Ducky, two of his best friends Scott Mitchell and Alan Hardisty are arranging a skydive to help raise money for Tilly’s trust fund. The funds will also contribute towards the funeral costs.
If you would like to donate through JustGiving (no matter how small) we would be most grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for donating.
One love (in memory of our dear friend Ducky) xx
