    Story

website Fee is attempting to walk Snowdon with walking poles. Fee is usually a manual wheelchair user due to numerous health conditions and disabilities. When she turned 50 she was determined to set herself a huge challenge. This is it.

So why?. Fee is the founder and secretary of Swimming After Surgery (SAS) which she helped set up within six months of coming up with the idea in Telford. These swimming sessions cost £60 per hour to put on for the ladies recovering from cancer. The participants are not charged to attend these sessions as when cancer strikes they have enough on their plate to cope with including hospital appointments, loss of income, to name just a couple of the issues they have to face.

Attending the swimming sessions enable the ladies to meet others going through similar experiences, making them realise they are "not alone" and not feeling so bewildered. The picture above is the front of a thank you card from one of the participants of the Swimming After Surgery (SAS) sessions.

Little did Fee know that when she set this project up that she would need this service too in 2015 when she faced her 8th breast cancer operation. Yes you did read that correctly. Fee is very determined to succeed with any challenge she has faced.

In 2010 Fee finally got a diagnosis as to what was wrong with her, it was mind blowing not just one diagnosis but several in one go. Fibromyalgia, an extra vertebra in her lower spine, and osteoathritis in her knees and spine, as well as hip dysplagia. Most of these conditions she had from birth but never knew what was wrong. On top of this she was diagnosed with ulcerative collitis in 2006, had her first mastectomy in 2007 and was diagnosed with lymphoedema in 2008. Despite all this Fee has a wicked sense of humour and uses this to get her through the tough times.

Fee hand knits yellow and pink poppies for this worthy cause. The yellow is representing a flame of somebody that has passed and the pink reminds us to live life to the full. She also crochets pink and yellow butterflies and when attending No 10 Downing Street in March 2017 she even sold one on the doorstep.

Fee frequently comes up with unique and innovative fundraising ideas and this is going to be a huge challenge for her. Every step is going to be painful and she hopes to overcome this in her own unique way so please support this project which is helping so many women locally in Telford as well as receiving national enquiries over the telephone to support others going through a cancer diagnosis who have no idea where to get specialist swimwear or lingerie as well as signposting to other support that they may require.
