    Story

Like everyone else here in the UK I was horrified by the recent events at Grenfell Tower in Kensington and as more and more of the story unfolds, it is incredulous that in this day and age there is no aerial ladder available to the London Fire Brigade that would have enabled them access to the top floors of the tower in question.

The story continues to unfold and thankfully it would now appear that the residents and the local community are being assisted with resources and assistance in their time of need, much as a result of the coming together of the local community themselves.

Sitting back and pondering over the situation, and having watched the piece about fire ladders on the news yesterday evening, it is totally incredulous to me that there are ladders that exist (the Bronto Skylift made in Finland for example) and London does not have one!

Over the coming months and years, much will be written and reported about fire and fire safety in tower blocks but that all takes time and London currently has many tower blocks and tall office buildings that exceed the reach of existing Fire Brigade resources.

Working in London and visiting such offices on a regular basis, it never occurred to me that there would be no such resource available, and for around £1 million a ladder could be available. This would be a fantastic resource for London and if we can raise the funds via crowdfunding, a fitting tribute to those that lost their lives and all those recently affected by the recent tragedy.

Working & championing the family business community would not be possible with families working in business together & families are essentially at the heart of all that we do.

This was a tragedy that has affected many families and hopefully, people that live, work & visit London will support our campaign & help us to raise funds for a resource that could prevent such a devastating tragedy happening again.

Every penny counts so please help us make a difference.

      Update from the Page owner

We have had no alternative but to cease the campaign. We would be happy to refund your donation via or we could transfer the funds to our Family Business campaign to help the homeless in London this year and make a real difference to those less fortunate than ourselves. Please email me at paul@familybusinessunited.co.uk and let me know what you would like me to do. Thank you so much for your support and sorry to say that we never hit the target, but tried and I have learnt a lot along the way!
