I'm running my first 5K in September for a very special little man. Please take a read...
In April I watched a program called 'Mind over Marathon.' It followed some people with mental health problems and they told of how running was helping them to deal with them.
Truth is, I have suffered with similar issues for many years and watching this spurred me to give running a go myself.
When my little girl, Ella, was diagnosed with cancer, my world fell apart. My mental health spiralled and I was literally convinced I was going to lose her. She went through more than any child should or most adults can imagine and there was nothing I could do about it. I was supposed to protect her, yet I had to let people poison and operate on her, causing great pain, in a desperate bid to make her better. Ella has now been in remission for a year but I live in constant fear of what the future holds for her and that is terrifying.
I wasn't running for long but it was definitely helping. I had to stop though because I suffer from a bad back and had a bad flare up. I have decided to start again and what better motivation than to run for my little friend, Dawson.
Dawson is just 20 months old and in January he was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, a rare childhood cancer of the liver. Since then, Dawson has been treated with several different Chemotherapy drugs, none of which are working. Dawson's cancer is incredibly aggressive and has now spread to his lungs. Doctors in the UK have now said that Dawson's cancer is chemo resistant and they are out of options in this country.
Please sponsor me and help us get Dawson to America. Thank you xx
