Story

I have been a qualified nurse for many years, and a mother for 9 of those years - therefore I'm very passionate about public health, education, children and saving lives.

I feel that children and the wider community would benefit greatly from having basic first aid and CPR training. I would like to start a business which offers basic first aid courses to children in schools and local organisations such as Brownies, Guides etc. throughout Lancashire.

You may have seen the importance of this highlighted in the media by the Liberal Democrats -https://www.libdems.org.uk/children_should_be_taught_first_aid_in_schools_sir_bob_russell

Simon Gillespie, Chief Executive of the British Heart Foundation has reported that;“Lives are needlessly lost to cardiac arrests every day because not enough people have the skills or confidence to perform CPR. But the simple measure of teaching all children these skills could save thousands of lives. All parties should now follow this example and commit to making CPR an integral part of every child’s education.” In Norway and Seattle where these skills are routinely taught in schools the survival for Cardiac Arrest in the community is far higher than the UK.

I hope you will agree with me that these are valuable skills our children should be learning and will support me in making my dream a reality!!

The funds raised will be used to purchase equipment, set up the business and pay for things like liability insurance. The business will be self funding thereafter, with chargeable sessions covering the cost of free sessions offered to charitable groups!
