Story
Part of being a safe, successful rugby team is having strong, fit players who improve their athletic performance through strength training and aerobic conditioning. This in turn leads to decreased injury, increased confidence and an increase in speed and strength - rugby union is a fast paced, contact sport where all of these are essential.
Fleetwood Rugby Club is now starting a fundraising campaign to purchase new, modern and safe gym equipment for all club players from not only the Men’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd Teams but right the way through to the newly re-formed Ladies Team, age group players and other player members. Fleetwood Rugby Club has a rich and fascinating history spanning 86 years and has been and always will be a community club for all, it is totally financially self-reliant however its local community members can only do so much.
It currently has a registered player base of 130 adults and 250 mini-junior players, who will all hopefully continue to play for and support the club as they progress. Having modern, safe and quality gym equipment is a vital part of ensuring these players not only stay with the club but remain fit, healthy and injury free through their rugby journey. Please give as much or as little as you can to this fantastic, worthwhile cause, thank you.
All individual donations above £150 will receive their name/ business name on a plaque in the club gym upon completion and a Fleetwood rugby Club t-shirt.
Alongside this 10% of the money raised will also be donated to Cancer Research.

6 years agoA big thank you to Brendon Kershaw who at 15 years old has raised £400 alone in sponsorships for his lifting challenge for Fleetwood rugby club. He lifted a 326kg total at 72kg body weight. Well done Absolutely amazing

6 years agoHere's a picture from the newspaper story about the fundraising. This was a quiet training session on a very cold night but just shows there's still a lot of people who the club have a positive impact on.

I work as the strength and conditioning coach at Fleetwood Rugby Club. The fundraising will allow for the club to have an up to date, safe and fully working gym that can continue to be used for player injury prevention, injury rehab, improving strength, power and fitness levels.
