I've raised £3000 to Bat Flight Pen for South Devon Bat Care

Here at South Devon Bat Care we are committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of all species of UK bats. We help sick, starving, injured and orphaned bats all over South Devon.
We are a self-funded rescue and within the last 12 months we have helped over 60 animals. As well as 9 species of bat, we have rescued hedgehogs, rabbits and 7 species of birds, including birds of prey.
Our facilities are very limited and currently we are at full capacity. When bats have been in indoor care for a while they need to rebuild their strength, relearn their hunting skills and become readjusted to the weather conditions.
So we are looking to expand and build a large bat flight pen. This will enable us to help even more bats, in particular orphaned baby bats who require an outdoor flight area to learn to fly and hunt. The flight pen will also have a ‘soft release’ area for bats that don’t have a roost to go back to, because the roost has been destroyed or because the bats were orphaned. This soft release area will enable the bats to have a safe place to come home to for food and shelter until they are ready to move on.
We are looking to raise £3,000 to build our bat flight pen to give the bats the best possible chance of survival after their time spent in care. Any donations you are able to give towards our cause would be so gratefully received.
I know it’s a tough ask when so many are struggling with uncertain finances right now - as a small business owner, i know this as much as anyone - but any donations, however small, would make a huge difference to the animals in our care.
We are also looking for help with the building of the flight pen, so if you are able to donate your skill instead, please do get in touch!
Thank you in advance from the Kelly and the bats at South Devon Bat Care! 🦇
