FAT LADY OPERA COMMUNITY CHORUS
Hearing human voices singing live opera for the first time is a uniquely spellbinding experience. The effortless sound production, the immediate soul to soul connection and the grip of narrative all contribute to a compelling vital engagement.
The work of Fat Lady Opera Community Chorus will enable people from all backgrounds discover some of the amazing music and stories from the world of opera.
Fat Lady Opera is a new Community Interest company and we want to start developing the infrastructure for opera in Kent by creating a new Opera Community Chorus - able to perform works by familiar and contemporary composers.
Participating in music-making is effective for pain relief - University of Oxford research centre
In it's first year the FLOCC chorus will meet monthly to learn several opera choruses that have been newly arranged specifically for their voices. There will be no auditions for FLOCC and will be open to anyone aged 16 to 96. Our work will give singers exceptional training from professional singers, composers and musicians.
The donations we raise will enable us to ensure that membership fees are not a barrier to participation.
The chorus will deliver a free scratch performance in various locations across Kent each month.

5 years agoFLOCC is now active and preparing for its first operatic debut thanks to everyone's kind donations. On 30 November we will be giving performances of NightWatchers on Folkestone Harbour at 5pm, 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. Free tickets available here: https://tinyurl.com/yxqzmdsq £500 of funds have gone towards singing workshops, with 2 opera insight events on Nabucco and Madam Butterfly and in support of the production of NightWatchers.

5 years agoGreat news - Thanks to your kind donations and support of Arts Council England, FLOCC singers will have the opportunity to take part in two productions this year: As part of Icon Theatre's new production "Chatham Witch" in Fort Amherst (19th to 21st September) and in Fat Lady Opera's first mini chorus based opera: Night Watchers (30th November) at Folkestone Harbour in partnership with Folkestone Fringe and SparkedEcho. Please help us grow this offer to singers of all shapes and sizes by telling people about the FLOCC.
