I've raised £350 to help pay towards flukes vet bills

Apolgises for the long story, on how we came about Fluke (we named him this!) but i feel all details are necessary to really show the seriousness of abondoning animals :(
A couple of sundays ago (13/05/18) at 8pm, my husband and I were travelling back from a weekend away, where we stopped on the side of the a6 Bedford near Silsoe, my husband had drunk to much on the drive back and couldnt wait till we got back to Shefford. He went deep into the bushes to give himself more privacy where he saw a cardboard box behind a tree, tucked into some bushes and it was all taped up. Interested in what this was, as it looked very out of place, my husband started to rip the box when it started to move and out popped a rabbits head, it seemed friendly, but it had a nasty gammy eye. Now you dont have to be an animal lover to know that is absolutey disgusting. To treat a once loved family pet like that, not even giving it a chance to survive, for the size of the rabbit this box was very very small, and it was taped up in a way that the rabbit had no chance of escaping itself, it was left to die in a completely disgusting way. We got it home and gave it some water and carrot which were gone in 5 minutes.
My husband and I took it to the vets the next morning where they tell us the eye is very swollen, very sore and very infected, so antibiotics are given immediately, however where we stand now is the vets are 80% sure this rabbit will need its eye removed, which is where this crowdfund has come from. We are more than prepared to give this rabbit a loving home, but as much as we would love to be able to pay for this rabbits treatment outright, we just simply cannot afford it on our own, obviously we dont have insurance and would be impossible to get it now to help with the vet bills & If we dont take responsibilty of fluke then theres a chance he could be put down due to the cost of the surgery! So we need your help, the response that was received to express your outrage was incredible, so if you could donate anything to help, it really would help out weigh the evil that this rabbit, and many other animals are going through everyday.
Many thanks for reading. We will of corse upload a photo of the receipt from the vets, and if for any reason we go over our target we will donate the rest to the RSPCA & Henlow Vets who have been amazing to Fluke.
