Story

Beautiful Evie, a six year old from Shilbottle, Northumberland suffers from Diamond Blackfan Anaemia (DBA) a very rare blood disorder where the bone marrow fails to produce red blood cells. The condition is extremely rare, affecting approximately 125 people in the UK and less than 1000 worldwide. It requires intensive therapy and has no known cure.

Evie has blood transfusions every 4 weeks to keep her alive. So far she has had 36 blood transfusions. She has severe iron overload from having to many blood transfusions and this excess iron is sticking to her major organs. Evie's bone marrow is failing and a donor is needed.

Evie is under the care of RVI in Newcastle and also St Marys Hospital in Paddington, London – which is the UK’s specialist centre for DBA. Her family are making regular trips to London where Evie undergoes various procedures.

I am the mother of two beautiful daughters who are friends with Evie and her younger sister Erin. As I watch Evie fight DBA with such bravery I want to help and support her family in the day to day battle with this terrible condition and support the vital reserch being done to beat it.

On Sunday 15th of October I will jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet and for a little while I will be flying for Evie!

The money raised will help pay for train tickets, accomodation and day to day living costs for Evie and her family when they travel to St Mary's hospital in London for appointments and treatment. Further down the line if Evie gets the go ahead for a bone marrow transplant the funds are there to help with the costs surrounding that.

Please help me raise a whole heap of money to support Evie and her amazing family on their DBA journey!
