Story
FND Connect was created to support people living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), along with their families and carers. FND is a complex neurological condition that can affect movement, speech, mobility, sensation and seizures — often unpredictably.
One day, someone with FND may be able to walk independently. The next, they may suddenly need a wheelchair, walking aid or mobility support just to leave the house safely.
Unfortunately, because symptoms can fluctuate so dramatically, many people with FND struggle to meet the strict criteria required for NHS-funded mobility equipment. This leaves countless individuals stuck in impossible situations — unable to access the support they genuinely need during flare-ups, relapses or difficult periods.
Why This Matters
Loss of mobility doesn’t just affect physical movement. It affects:
independence
mental wellbeing
employment
social connection
confidence
family life
Too many people with FND become isolated simply because they cannot access temporary or flexible mobility support when they need it most.
That’s where FND Connect wants to help.
