Story

Asalamualiakum.

The World Health Organisation estimates that 60% of the population in Bangladesh has to suffer with unsafe drinking water.

It is important that we as muslims help and encourage one another in order to give for the sake Allah and to help those less fortunate than ourselves. As a reminder and a means of making it easier for us to do our duty I wanted to raise funds in order to build a water well in Bangladesh.

One reason for choosing the cause of a water well is because The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)

Another reason is that this, inshallah, will also be an ongoing charity – Sadaqah jariyah – one of the most valuable acts we can do in this life, which continues benefiting us in the next, even after we have left the earth.

The water well will help a small community have access to clean water to use for their most basic needs such as; drinking, washing, whudu and many other things that may not cross our minds.

I have opted to run in a half marathon on the 1st October and given myself the challenge of completing it with less than 4 weeks to train. I know people usually fundraise when partaking in such activities so I thought i would do the same, however, please when you donate, do it for the sake of Allah and then for those in need. Inshallah this will help benefit us all in the hereafter.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RadhiAllahu ‘anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said:

“Allaah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’” [Sahih Bukhari]
