Story

Having spent nearly 3 years laying the groundwork to open a Folklore Centre in Todmorden, we now have access to a building to house the project! The Centre will provide a focus for all folklore related activities in Todmorden from storytelling to local history to traditional craft workshops to folk horror film screenings, with guest speakers from across the UK and beyond, a library and resource unit, space for exhibitions, conferences....... and much more. We hope this will become a much loved and well used community space and asset. We will also have a tea room and bakery on site- folklore, arts and culture with cake- what's not to love!

UPDATE! We are expecting the arrival of a huge number of books at the end of April 2022! We're so pleased to be able to provide a new home for the collections of The Society for Storytelling and Mythstories- a perfect compliment to the aims of the Centre and a huge resource that will be freely accessible to the public within the Centre for research and general interest, for storytellers, artists, writers, performers, musicians, folklorists.... This collections is a wealth of books on storytelling, folktales and fairy-tales from around the world and much more.

In order to prepare for the arrival of the books, we are hurriedly trying to clean and decorate, which involves buying carpet and paint, as well as a few other DIY bits and bobs- your help is much appreciated in anticipation of this wonderful resource arriving in Todmorden!

THANK YOU!
