Story

Hi I am Lucas, I was born 11 years ago with Quadriplegic Dystonic Cerebral Palsy. I am unable to walk so rely on my electric wheelchair to get around + mum & dad. My whole body is affected by my cerebral palsy but with lots of practise & determination I'm mastering the control stick on my chair with my right arm.

Anybody who knows me knows how much I LOVE football. Unfortunately I am unable to play regular football but I have been playing now with the Manchester City powerchair football team for 5 years. I started playing using the teams chairs, they are a great club which have wheelchairs that we use, week in and week out. However, they are very old and are not fit for purpose anymore. The game has moved on and the chairs out there have improved. The newer chairs available are faster with two powerful motors designed for maximum maneuverability, which improves the ability to strike the big football with accuracy and power.

For me to progress to the next level of the sport, I need the Equaliser Powerchair. This means it can be specially made for me. I am looking forward to being able to develop my skills and become an even better player. I am so proud to be part of something so exciting and a growing sport both in this country and worldwide.

I will be doing the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 5K on Saturday 23rd May 2020 to help raise funds through sponsorships. Feel free to come join in with me or even to help another cause. (Obviously somebody will be helping me around in my manual chair😉)
