    Story

Stuart and Susan popped into our lives shortly after we moved into our new house in Kintore, 13 years ago. A young couple and full of fun, we had many good times together. Susan had followed Stuart with his new teaching post, and began the process of becoming a Physics teacher herself. They got married, developed their careers (Stuart moving to photography) and started a family here, before moving south to Dunfermline to be closer to loved ones as they became a family of four.

On 2nd December 2017, the lovely Susan lost her hard-fought fight with the cruellest of conditions: postpartum cardiomyopathy. She leaves behind Stuart, and her boys Lachlan (5) and Gregor (nearly 3 months).

Susan was absolutely devoted to Stuart and the boys. She was a determined liver of life, and achieved many things including having her book published, abseiling off the Forth bridge, parachuting and doing a firewalk in aid of charity. Susan was full of mirth and dry wit, and crumpled many of us with her raised 'must try harder' eyebrow. She was on the urgent heart transplant list, and gave her pancreas and kidneys to give the gift of hope and life to others when hers ended. A truly lovely, gentle, kind and thoughtful soul, we all miss her terribly.

Stuart is an amazing dad and a freelance photographer. We know that many of the family’s friends and colleagues are utterly devastated by this news and wish to support Stuart in learning to live without Susan and bringing up the boys. We have set up this page so that through donations, Stuart can spend more time at home caring for Lachlan and Gregor, and less time working to make up for Susan’s salary. Stuart would also like to support the Golden Jubilee Heart Failure Ward which cared for Susan so expertly and is funded entirely by donation and legacies . If you have a preference where you would like your donation to go, please indicate this in your comment.

Thank you wholeheartedly for reading this and for your donation. I know that every penny is very much appreciated.

The Evening Express have published Susan's story today. In Stuart's words: The idea is to highlight the importance of organ donation as well as the need to discuss your wishes with family who will need to give final permission in the event of your death. Anyway buy a copy, make people read it and otherwise share the hell out of it. Let’s make a wee bit of a difference for those waiting for the gift of life. (link in next message)

      Update from the Page owner

A wholehearted thank you for your generosity in supporting this page. I know that both your financial and emotional support means a great deal to Stuart at this time. We will raise the target once more as there are two great causes here. If any friends of Susan reading this would consider writing a wee note about how you remember her, I know from personal experience how precious that will become to the boys in future years. Please sent to Stuart or to me via this page.

Susan helped me throughout my student placement when I was at Queen Anne High School. Sorry to hear the news and I am absolutely gutted. She was a wonderful woman.
