Story
Tom and Kate's John O'Groats to Land's End adventure.
Kate and I will be undertaking a charity event on the 23rd August 2020, in order to raise funds for the Cheltenham General Hospital, Critical Care Unit. With Kate in Support, I will be travelling from John O'Groats to Lands End by swimming, cycling and running. Passing through Cheltenham to stop by and thank the team at the Critical Care Unit (CCU). On the final day I will be running the classic quarter ultra marathon with endurance life. www.endurancelife.com/classic-quarter you can see the route here.
As you all will know, throughout May and June 2019, the team at the CCU worked together to help Peter Hylands, Kate’s father and my father-in-law, to recover from double pneumonia. Devastatingly, Peter succumbed to his illness on the 10th of June 2019 and we have missed him very much every passing second of the day since. We want to give something back to the hospital, and more specifically, to the CCU which helped Peter, and the rest of the family through the time he was under their care.
After speaking with the team at the CCU, it is decided that Kate and I are going to help them reach their goal to build a patient and relative outdoor garden space which has full access for bed bound patients at the unit. The garden will help patients that have been couped up on the ward for some time, get out and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. It will be designed in such a way that the hospital bed and equipment can go outside with them and family members can sit with them in a comfortable and bright environment to aid their recovery and lift the spirits.
Kate and I would like to thank you for you donation. It will help the Unit with a specific goal in mind and will help the patients of the ward to recover and feel better.
If you would also help us to circulate and spread the word by sharing it and re-posting our event on your pages and walls.
Thank you
Love Tom and Kate
