Funded on Saturday, 2nd May 2020

    Story

For The Love Of Scrubs - Your NHS Needs You.

I have raised the target we would like to hit. You are probably wondering why.

There are colleagues, Doctors, Nurses, HCA's etc the length and breadth of the country who are using their own personal mobile phones to enable Covid-19 patients to say their last goodbye's to loved ones.

My heart breaks to know that colleagues will have those numbers on their phones - patients Goodbyes - a constant reminder of the war be battle everyday.

I'm sure you will join me in this additional quest.

This group was started by me Ashleigh Linsdell. I didn't realise the impact my campaign would have on us as a nation or just how quickly word would spread and grow.

In a 2 weeks we have amassed 30k members!

You can see me here on BBC news!!

    BBC NEWS - FTLOS

When members joined - in the very beginning, they understood that they were paying for the materials themselves as a way of giving back to our amazing NHS. Some couldn't afford much but put in orders which would produce 5 pairs of scrubs..

As we all know, things are difficult for a lot of people throughout the UK financially. We are overwhelmed that so many people want to help but don't have the finances to buy the materials. We would love to be able to put together 'kits' to enable members Nationwide to join in and produce the Scrubs our Doctors & Nurses need. Its not just in hospitals, many health centres need them as they help conquer Covid-19.

I'd like to share my initial appeals with you so you can see for yourselves how the campaign has grown beyond my wildest dreams.

"I am a nurse working in a busy A&E dept and we are severely short on scrubs. I have my own little business and recently ventured into clothing making so am going to attempt to make a few (hundred 😩) sets of scrubs for my dept and work family to keep us and patients safe whilst I’m off work in isolation (between shifts).

I wanted to spend as little as possible, hence the hopefully wholesale prices. Is there anyone able to help please?

I hope this is okay to post, please delete if not.

Looking for black, navy or darker blue poly cotton.

If you’d like to help by donating materials, time or wishing to make a set and post to me, please PM and we can arrange. I’m astounded by people’s generosity so far! Thank you 🥰

    Why I'm raising money

Until now I have been funding this myself but fabric is expensive. I am working full time as an A&E nurse, a mum, disabled and trying to do my bit to help keep my work family and our patients safe!

    How donations will be used

Any funds raised will be used to purchase appropriate materials.

Navy and black poly cotton suitable for scrubs, appropriate thread and other materials required to ensure these are safe and efficient for working in an acute hospital setting.

These will be donated to any NHS team who require them.

Thank you for everyone who has offered their time, their sewing machines and epic skills to assist with our bid!

    I’m very very grateful."

My goal was £500! Needless to say, we smashed it! It was used to produce kits for volunteers.

We are now getting 1000's of offers of help, but no funds to offer. Please give anything you can afford to help our amazing NHS.

    Thank You

Thank you everybody for justgiving to the cause, there will be updates within the next week for fabric that will be going out, and to where. We thank you for being patient at this troubling time but we hope to get many more scrubs to frontline NHS workers who need them.
