Story

I care about foxes because they are iconic indigenous animals that undeservedly get bad press and are much misunderstood. With my films I hope to educate people and inspire compassion for these beautiful animals. I monitor, support and if necessary rescue vulnerable foxes in my home town and beyond.

Ever since I got "foxed" in the summer of 2016 by two little fox cubs that turned my urban garden into their playground, I have been proud to be a voice for foxes. I now give all my time to create good press for foxes, support foxes in need, and set up the charitable organisation Fox Guardians in 2018.

Usually I raise funds throughout spring and summer at charity events where I run Tombolas and sell my fox merchandise. But due to the Corona Virus ALL of these events have now been cancelled, so I lost the main source of income for my work with foxes. I now will have to rely on the generosity of animal lovers online who value my work for foxes and might be able to make a kind donation in these difficult times.

To monitor vulnerable foxes I am using multiple motion-activated cameras at many different locations but recently all five of my cameras failed, one after the other. From fuds raised so far from this petition I have been able to buy three replacement cameras which are currently all in use on one site where an urban development is threatening the safety of a fox family. I am hoping to buy at least one more camera, so if I was to be called out to monitor and support another fox, I will have the equipment needed to do this important work. I also desperately need funds for fox food and treatment. Due to coronavirus maby people stopped feeding urban foxes and there is no restaurant or takeaway waste foxes could forrage from. Many foxes go hungry as a result, their immune sytem is weakened and the can get mange. I am currently supporting 5 mange patients and 2 foxes with leg injuries plus some fox families with cubs.

I understand how tight money is for everyone in this current situation and appreciate every singe £1 someone may be able to give. £1 buys one tin of dog food which will feed a fox in need (suffering from mange, struggling with a leg injury etc.) for one day. £10 buys a bottle of Arnica drops that helps treating a sprain. £35 pays for a life-saving mange treatment. £ 300 buys a motion-activated camera plus all accessoires used for monitoring vulnerable foxes.

It makes me happy that some of my fox films have made headlines and many have gone viral and have so far reached 60 million people worldwide. If I could only get a penny per view, I could achieve so much more for foxes! My fox footage has been shared by companies like "The Dodo" (who do NOT pay me for using my footage but at least they help to give it the the positive fox clips the wide reach I believe to be important) and by Channel 5 who will soon include my footage in a special programme on urban foxes.

By studying foxes on a daily basis over 4 years co-operating with the country’s leading fox expert Prof Dawn Scott on the Fox Myth-Busting film series as well as working with experienced local rescuers, I continue to learn a lot about fox behaviour and am happy to share information and advice with fellow fox lovers. It makes me happy and proud that I have been able to save many foxes’ lives and continue to document their journey through life to share these stories with fox lovers like you.

I am currently running a campaign to protect a vixen and her vulnerable cubs from a big urban development which is happening on land that has been derelict for 2 years. This is where the vixen has built a beautiful big den and has been rearing her cubs away from humans. Local residents made me aware of these foxes and I have been monitoring this fox family with trail cameras I purchased from the funds raised so far by this fundraiser. I have launched a petition and have been lobbying the developers, Worthing Council as well as the construction company Cheesmur Building to ensure the foxes safety. You can help me by signing Ophelia's Petition and by donating so I can purchase one more trail cameras to make sure the whole very large site is rigged with cameras to insure the foxes' safety. I am proud that some victories have already been won for these foxes: The construction company will cordon the den off, so no builders may approach and no buildling waste will be dumped near the area. They have also agreed to delay an excavation for an extension to give the cubs time to grow a bit more and become more independent and will install a safe fox trail so the foxes will be able to continue to access the back garden where their den is located via the Rose Garden, where the extension will be built. Furthermore they will allow me to monitor the whole site throughout the big build that will last until April 2021. With your help I will be able to do just that.

Thank you kindly for your support.
