Story

I'm raising funds to assist with expenses being incurred during daily cancer treatment & to treat my kids once I have recovered.

I got diagnosed with head & neck cancer on 4th July after feeling unwell since the turn of the year. I’ve had two preparatory surgeries (tonsils removed plus 3 x wisdom teeth) and am at the time of writing halfway through the required chemotherapy and radiotherapy which will hopefully wipe this out.

I have had to move in with my retired parents to care for me during treatment. This could be for 6 months, maybe longer.

I want to be able to assist with daily expenses from having me in the house. Laundry, food, utilities, fuel etc.

My dad takes me to the hospital daily. We arrive early for Radiotherapy appointments which are invariably running late.

It’s nice to be able to have a coffee together, and maybe a snack if the appointment runs over a meal time.

After treatment concludes I will need time to recover as it is pretty brutal. I moved in with my parents mainly to protect my kids (13 and 10) from having to see me get pretty poorly.

Once I recover, I want to be able to treat them and make up for this lost time together. My son is a huge Everton fan, but has never seen them play. He’s also really getting into music and would love to go to a live gig. My daughter is very theatrical and I know she’d love to go to a West End Show or something similar.

Ive made a post-cancer “wishlist”. But being ill is expensive and with the costs being incurred it is difficult to find spare cash to save.

I’ve thought long and hard about creating this page. Is it begging? Do I *need* charity from strangers? Is it bad taste?

I think the conclusion I’ve drawn is that sometimes in life when you’re getting a kicking, you need to swallow your pride and reach out.

I’m not relying on donations to live, but I won’t lie a few quid for coffee and cake wouldn’t go amiss.

And the elephant in the room is that there is a chance I won’t make it through this. If the worst was to happen, every little would help provide for my family.
