Story
Friends of Queensbury Cemetery was formed in 2014 with the specific aim of trying to preserve the fabric and dignity of the cemetery.
Together we have been raising funds and many improvements have already been made, during this time we discovered that there is a communal grave within the cemetery where a number of Queensbury babies were buried. Our committee decided that we would work towards having some kind of acknowledgement of the many babies who were laid to rest in the unmarked grave for many years.
This has been an ongoing project for the past year and a half and substantial progress has been made with plans being passed, a monumental mason signed up, a deposit paid and materials on order with a proposed date of delivery agreed.
Bradford councils Bereavement service is fully involved as are our local ward councillors. We are seeking sponsors within Queensbury and will be holding a series of fund raising shortly.
The baby memorial garden is very close to our hearts and we hope that the information shared will help to raise the funds to give the babies and their relatives peaceful respect. We have included the bank details for donations and hope that Queensbury will support this worthwhile cause.
