Story

Thank you soooo much to everyone who has donated so far! Please please let’s try and get to £4000!!!

On 7th July 2017, Neal, my best friend's Dad, was on his way home from a morning cycle when he was involved in a freak accident, colliding with a car parked on the road. He suffered various injuries, the most severe of these being a broken spine, leaving him with no sensation or movement from the chest down.

After surgery to fuse his spine and a gruelling 4 months in hospital, he returned home to a life much altered, in a wheelchair. Neal is an extremely active man with a great love of walking, mountain climbing, cycling and skiing, so you can imagine what a devastating blow this injury has been to him and his family.

However, Neal has been attending weekly sessions at Neurokinex physiotherapist which offers specialist physio and electronic stimulation techniques; he is getting some very promising results. Whilst no-one can tell what the future holds, there is no doubt that these sessions have improved his abdominal and back strength as well as a degree of sensation and movement returning in his legs.

We're desperate for him to be able to continue these sessions and take his recovery as far as possible, however they are not available on the NHS and are costly. With one hour of activity based rehab costing £70 and one hour of electronic stimulation costing £140, the weekly bill is £210!

On Sunday the 19th August I will be taking part in a tandem skydive and would love to be able to say to Neal that I have raised £2100 to finance 10 weeks of treatment for him! Any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated by myself, Neal and his family.
