Story

After 45 years I have decided it is time for me and my old friend to part ways. My old friend being my facial hair. I have not been clean shaven since May 1971. I joined the Royal Navy on the 5th May 1970, which the rules were to be clean shaven whilst on duty, If you wanted to grow a beard then the protocol would be to request permission to grow one and in that time was only given 4 weeks to grow a suitable styled beard. On this page you will find a picture of me from when I was last clean shaven.

My family and most of my friends have never seen me without a beard, so although this will be a fun thing to do it will also be quite shocking for them!

My cause for donating will be going to the William Harvey Cardiac Catheter Suite, Which i do hold very close to my heart, pun intended as over the course of 20 years i have undergone 25 Heart operations, I cannot thank the doctors, nurses, and surgeons enough as many times they have saved my life. The care I was provided with was always 100% and there was never too much for them to do for me.. I became a bit of a regular with the care team and they all know me very well.

The plan for my "Big Shave Off" is to go completely clean shaven, so to have a smooth face, And then maybe after 45 years my wife will finally give me a snog! Haha.

"The Big Shave Off" will take place in the comfort of my own home on the 19th August 2018, I have always promised my Grandson that he would have the pleasure of shaving it all off. We will be doing a Live video of the event so you will all be able to watch and enjoy.

Please could we help raise as much money for this incredible team of health professionals at the William Harvey for all the hard work they do. Any donations will be most welcome and I thankyou all from the bottom of my heart, stents included! :-)
