    Story

The nearest government health facility is a good 7 miles away. Maternal deaths, HIV/AIDS, Malaria and avoidable illnesses like Cholera still plague this suburban area turned slum every year. No family in this has not suffered from the scourge of HIV/AIDs yet they have to travel a 7 miles away every 4 weeks to queue up at the government facility most often having to make repeat journeys due to the nature of health services in Uganda.
Poor sanitation and planning has exacerbated the an already much complicated situation. When the tropical down pours come, the filth from the households up hill all ends up in the households living at the bottom of the hills. What often follows is local outbreaks of illnesses such as malaria, cholera and diarrhoea.
Why and How I know the health needs of this community is because I grew up in Kikajjo Namasuba. I have since emigrated to the U.K as a young man. Over the years I have been making repeated trips back to the area each coming with sad news of the passing of many locals through understandably preventable illnesses. I, my Partner Emma and my young family have just come back from yet another trip there and the suffering to this community seems to simply ever grow. The situation has been confounded by the increase of use untrained ‘local preachers’ and traditional healers for often illnesses that will quickly be resolved through trained health professionals. We’ve decided to take action immediately
What we’re trying to achieve with the funds:
We’re setting up a health center – Francis House Health Center Kikajjo Namasuba.
We’ve procured a piece of Land and are working had to bring the much needed Health facilities closer to this community
We hope to Help reduce unnecessary deaths during child birth by bringing a small new maternity facility
Bring Malaria drugs & ARVs closer to this community
Engage with local community to improve sanitation and wellbeing in their families.
Any donations made are greatly appreciated thankyou
