In the footsteps of Blessed Edward Oldcorne SJ
Please sponsor me, as I am making a 260-mile cycling pilgrimage (round trip) from Worcester to St Winifred’s Well in Wales in order to raise funds to complete the building of a medical centre in the village of Nyandoro, Zimbabwe.
Nyandoro is a small village in the Nyanga region of Zimbabwe. The village is home to families who live in simple huts and houses which they build themselves.
The people who live in this small village are not as well off as you and I, they have to pay for education. Some families can’t pay and their children go uneducated.
The nearest medical centre is 20km away from the village and the children have to walk there.
Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College in Worcester aims to raise £10,000 to complete the building of a new medical centre in Nyandoro.
Blessed Edward Oldcorne visited the shrine of St Winifred's Well in 1605 to give thanks for his deliverance from cancer.
I chose to cycle to this shrine because, as a former teacher at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College, I want to visit this holy site and give thanks for our NHS who ensure we have the best health care possible. I also want to invite people to donate to this worthy cause and help families whose lives would benefit greatly from a medical centre. I will begin cycling on Wednesday April 5th and arrive at St Winifred's Well on Friday 7th April. This is the day that Blessed Edward Oldcorne was martyred for his faith on Redhill, Worcester.
