As some of you may know, my grandaughter Mia was diagnosed with Retts Syndrome several years ago, a devestating and rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops, causing a progressive inability to use muscles for eye and body movements and speech. Mia is now 8, and whilst she is a beautiful and smiley little girl, she is unable to walk, communicate or do anything independently. My daughter has been saving up for a wheelchair adapted vehicle as it’s becoming increasingly difficult to transfer Mia in and out of the car.

Therefore I have decided to embark on a month long walking pilgramage in order to raise money for Mia which will go towards purchasing an adapted vehicle for her to travel around in. This really would mean a lot to my daughter and granddaughter, and make life just that bit easier.

The Camino de Santiago is a large network ofancient pilgrim routes stretching across Europe and coming together at the tomb of St. James (Santiago in Spanish) in Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain. I will be setting off on April 29th for a month. Travelling by foot almost 500 miles from Biarritz in France, to Santiago in Spain.

It would mean a great deal if you could sponsor my walk and along the way, I will post regular updates of my journey!
