Story

Frankie has been always been a hard-working proud supportive father and husband. He was the breadwinner for his family, running a small business, I Level Sign Co, for nearly 20 years. If you live in Connecticut, you’ve seen his work. Frankie’s world came to a screeching halt on January 2nd when he suffered a massive stroke while ill with Covid. It was unclear to the doctors whether or not he would survive and what the outcome would be. His family would not give up on him and he was given several life-saving interventions.

Frankie spent nearly two months in Yale ICU for treatment of the stroke. He was ventilated for weeks, in addition, his kidneys were failing and he acquired several life-threatening infections in the hospital. He suffered paralysis of the entire right side of his body as well as loss of speech. Since being out of the hospital, Frankie has been working diligently towards his recovery, first in inpatient rehab and now at home with outpatient therapy. He had to learn to walk, speak and even eat all over again. He is making progress each week, but as you may know, stroke recovery is slow and uncertain and he has a long road ahead. He had to make the difficult decision to close the doors of his small business while he recovers. 2020 and the pandemic took a toll on business and earnings. As a micro business, there was no financial relief available.

Since the stroke, he and his family have suffered a total loss of income. They are rapidly depleting any savings. Frankie’s top priority has always been taking care of his daughter and wife. But for now, his family has made his health and recovery their top priority. His wife, Meridith is unable to work full time as Frankie currently requires 24-hour care.

Any donations will help tremendously with living expenses and out-of-pocket medical expenses. Please consider donating to help my brother and his family through this difficult time and ease some of the financial worries and help they can focus on getting Frankie back on his feet.
