I've raised £20000 to Support Sarcoma charities

As many of you may know, I was diagnosed with a rare type of sarcoma in my arm in the summer of 2022. Fortunately, it was detected relatively early, and while it had spread aggressively locally, there have been no signs of it spreading elsewhere in my body.
Thanks to the incredible care I received, I was able to undergo multiple surgeries to remove the lumps from my arm and continue to have regular scans at The Royal Marsden.
I am deeply aware of how different my story could have been, and I’m immensely grateful for the treatment and support I received. That’s why I’m committed to raising funds for sarcoma charities, which provide vital support and resources for others affected by this type of cancer.
It is also worth noting how important early diagnoses was in my case, so if we can raise some awareness for Sarcoma, that can’t be a bad thing! Sarcoma’s are relatively rare forms of cancer but they are most common in young adults and can be very aggressive if not treated early.
Fron March 21st - 22nd 2025, I’ll be attempting a Murph Marathon –
Starting at 18:00 on Friday the 21st and the last planned for 16:00 on Saturday 22nd, I’ll be attempting a Murph* every 2 hours for 24 hours.
We will also have a BBQ on the Friday evening, Pizzas on Saturday evening and various raffles/ challenges/ fundraising throughout.
For those unfamiliar, a single Murph consists of:
• 1-mile run
• 100 pull-ups
• 200 push-ups
• 300 squats
• Another 1-mile run
(Wearing a weighted 10kg vest)
*To reach the full marathon distance, I’ll slightly increase the running distance in each workout to 2.2 miles*. By the end of the 24-hour period, the goal is to complete:
• 26.2 miles of running
• 1,200 pull-ups
• 2,400 push-ups
• 3,600 squats
I’ll be completing this challenge at Newwave CrossFit, a place that played a huge role in keeping me positive during my treatment. The amazing community there has already rallied behind me, with many committing to joining me for one or more of the workouts.
Workouts will be bookable via TeamUp, and a link will be shared here shortly.
• Minimum Donation: £10 per workout attended on the day.
Even if you can’t join in person, your support through this page will mean the world to me and the charities we’re supporting.
Our primary charity is Transcend Sarcoma, a local charity set up by Jack Holmes, who trained at a local gym - Locker 27. Jack, unfortunately, lost his battle with sarcoma last year, but his family and friends are doing incredible work to continue his legacy and expand the charity’s reach. You can learn more about Transcend Sarcoma here: https://www.transcendsarcoma.com.
Adam Reckless will be completing all 12 workouts in honour of his friend Amy Welch and her fiancé Louis Wilkinson.
In October 2023 Amy was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma at the age of 32; since then Amy’s world has been turned upside down with surgery, countless hospital appointments, 28 gruelling rounds of radiotherapy, and ongoing chemotherapy.
In October 2024, following a year of intensive treatment - a biopsy and scan confirmed a recurrence of the disease, and she’s now been given a stage 4 diagnosis. In Adam’s words: Amy embodies the absolute best of us; the kind of warm, caring and loving person we should all aspire to be.
