Our son Fraser has a life-limiting condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which causes muscle weakness. The condition has no treatment and is 100% fatal.

As a result of this, Fraser, now aged 4, has never been able to stand or walk independently and relies solely on a wheelchair to get around. Fraser has a manual chair which he requires an adult to push for him and is starting at mainstream school in September 2017 - a powered wheelchair with a rise and fall seat will change his life in so many ways - he will be able to be eye-level with his peers, get from A to B by himself and move around the playground to join in games with his friends - socially he will be included, make friendships and be able to enjoy the right to an education the same as other children.

Unfortunately the NHS have denied powered mobility funding for Fraser and are only able to offer just £2,500 by way of a voucher towards the cost of the £12,500 chair which we believe will give him two basic human rights of a child: independence and inclusion.

This leaves us to fund the remaining £10,000 ourselves at the very time we had planned to adapt our home to make it suitable for his needs. This means we have the agonising choice of whether to choose between Fraser being happy at school or happy at home, surely a choice no parent should have to make?

Until now we have campaigned solely for research in the hope of finding a cure for Fraser and all children with Duchenne. Now we must ask for your help in giving Fraser the inclusiveness and happiness he deserves wherever he is.

Please help us, we don't know what else to do!
