Story

Fred Barrick, known locally as The Poppy Man sadly passed away suddenly on Monday 6th July, aged 89.

His daughter and full time carer, Lorraine, has since been told that their family home of 64 years will now be put up for sale leaving Lorraine without a home from the end of July.

The family home holds many sentimental memories and furniture that will need storing safely whilst the family grieve and until the family can sort through this.

To those who don’t know Fred, he was a fiercely independent and proud family man who gave so much of his time to help others. Fred would not want his daughter and granddaughters (his girls) to have the added financial worry of this.

We are raising money to support Lorraine in finding a new home and with the cost of legal support and storage following Fred’s passing.

Thank you for your support and to those of you who have reached out to the family with your condolences. The family are incredibly grateful and touched by everyones generousity and kind words during this really tough time.
