    Story

I have always been a musician and have had the pleasure of a musical education since the age of 4. When I was seven I joined the boy's Choir Libera and started singing regularly. Since then, and through secondary school, I have progressed from a treble to a bass and now sing with several choirs, in London and Sussex.

My family has a long-time connection to Kenya. My Great-Grandfather lived there, my Grandfather grew up there and my Grandparents met there. In 2008 I went, with my family, to Kenya for the first time and we raised money to help a local school buy their first 5 computers. This year we looked for a charity to support and found the Jua Kali Drummers Music Therapy Project, run by the Dagoretti Centre in Nairobi. This project takes children from the streets and puts them into music lessons in order to help reintegrate them with society. The positive effect of music on psychological well-being, as well as social development, has been proven many times over and, as a family of musicians, this charity's goal really resonated with us.

In order to help raise money for these children I have decided to perform a recital consisting of much of the music for my upcoming singing diploma. If you have received an invite but can't make it then please consider donating to help this charity. Even just £10 or £20 can go a long way to help reform the lives of these children.
