The Hindu Vidyapeeth (HVP) schools provide free or low-cost education to mostly locals, and other people for whom private education (a path chosen by 60% of Nepali students) is too expensive. Government schools offer little in the way of educational opportunity, and suffer acutely from the political struggles and Maoist strikes which plague Nepal.

Your donation will go towards:

1. Helping to send volunteers, such as myself, from Cambridge, Durham and Oxford to help with teaching. This increases the capacity of the school's teaching staff, offers opportunities for HVP students to practise their English with native speakers and increases their exposure to international cultures.

2. General funding for the organisation and their projects, including the Children's Peace Home and the Women's Education Programme. Additionally, donations help go towards rebuilding one of the organisation's schools which was devastated by a magnitude 7.9 earthquake, west of Kathmandu on April 25th 2015.
