Hi there! My name is Fredrick Rockson Houndjo, a Ghanaian, and an aspiring and enthusiastic first-stage researcher in the life sciences. Few months ago, I got admitted into some Universities I applied to;
University of Nottingham, Uk – Molecular Diagnostics and Genetics;
University of Utretch, Netherlands – MSc Environmental Biology – fungal track;
University of Turin, Italy - MSc Medical Biotechnologies;
University of Padova, Italy – MSc Medical Biotechnologies;
University of Bonn, Germany – MSc Life Sciences.
While I had a partial scholarship at the University of Utretch, I was unable to afford to pay the rest of the fees and had to pass over the scholarship award to the next eligible and available applicant.
My favorite amongst my admissions is MSc Life Sciences at the Center for Information Technology at the University of Bonn. This is an interdisciplinary programme which will educate me to successfully master the novel technical and economic challenges at the crossroads of biotechnology, medicine, pharmaceutics and computer science. The programme is distinguished by its international orientation, its focus on both natural science and IT competence, and its high level of integration of research and teaching.
Why I need Help
I am very fortunate to get admitted into a programme in Germany that charges no tuition fees, but only semester fees that I can afford. However, I have a bottleneck that is preventing me from continuing my education to the graduate level. Visa requirements by the German Embassy dictates that I show proof of subsistence by way of a blocked account with 8640 euros (of which only 720 euros is available for me every month). This is where I need your support. I have some money saved, but that is only a thousand euros (1000 EUR). I believe that through your help, your little donation, your benevolence, you could help put me on the path of graduate study in Germany.
Even though I am a hardworking individual and I work multiple jobs, I earn very little money at the end of the month and I am not able to come up with 8640 EUR to fund my education. But that has not quenched my interest and enthusiasm in life science research and IT. That is why I look forward to my masters programme at the Center of Information Technology at the University of Bonn. With my little savings (1000 EUR), I need your donation to supplement what I currently have so I can meet the required value of 8640 EUR
I am an independent and positive minded individual. Things have not always being easy for me through life (My parents died when I was young. Sad, but I needed to be tough and work my way through life). But I have learned to always work hard and provide for my sister and I.
I completed University of Cape Coast, Ghana where I studied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (2012-2016). I have since worked in a Microbiology lab at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho – Ghana. I am also a self-taught Graphic and Web designer (I do this to earn some extra money on the side).
My primary research interest has been on how to utilize microbial genomics, computational and bioinformatics tools in biomedical science to deliver key insights and to investigate into global health problems caused by infectious pathogens. In the end, my goal is to successfully complete my masters so that I can be better equipped with the knowledge, technology, and the research skills needed to understand and find solutions global health problems. Successfully getting into this masters programme is good for me as it places me on the best path of becoming a research scientist in global health! My long-term career goals include the pursuit of research in the field of Bioinformatics in a research & academic environment. I have found that a career in research is both intellectually stimulating and satisfying, and I can get there with your help and donation.
All your donations and contributions, even the smallest ones, would be sincerely appreciated. I am so excited by the prospect of doing my masters degree at b-it – University of Bonn, and if enough people were to give as little as possible, I might actually be able to do so.
Thank you in advance for your kindness. Feel free to contribute anything you can.
