Story
Free2bu is a children's bereavement charity dedicated to raising awareness of suicide and supporting the young lives left behind after the loss of a parent.
Founded in 2023, following the heartbreaking loss of Andy Ripley, who sadly lost his silent battle with mental health in 2022, Free2bu was created to honour his memory and support children facing similar grief. Andy's passing left behind his 13-year-old son, highlighting the devastating emotional impact parental suicide can have on young people.
Recognising the lack of specialist support available for children and young people aged 8-18 affected by suicide bereavement, Free2bu was established to provide understanding, guidance, and emotional support during some of life's most difficult moments.
Since then, Free2bu has continued to support children who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling, or loved one through suicide, illness, or other tragic circumstances.
Our mission is simple:
To ensure no child has to face grief alone.
We are also raising funds in memory of a dear friend and colleague, Martin, who tragically lost his life following an extremely violent attack whilst on a night out.
Martin was a proud veteran of the British Armed Forces and was deeply respected by all who knew him. His sudden and heartbreaking passing at the age of 53 has left family, friends, and the wider community devastated.
As a charity, we stand together not only to support bereaved children and families, but also to honour the lives of those taken too soon and raise awareness of the lasting impact that trauma, violence, loss, and grief can have on loved ones left behind.
Every donation, share, and message of support helps us continue our mission of providing compassion, understanding, and support to those facing unimaginable loss.
