Story
Society is undermined by government corruption, which robs citizens of vital revenue for healthcare, schools and social welfare. In extreme cases, the coruption will lead to a kleptocratic system of governance, where the wealth is consolidated in the hands of a small corrupt elite for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many.
The countries of Central Asia have long suffered from the effects of kleptocracy - low life expectancy, high child mortality rate, a lack of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, with no way of changing their leadership through elections. Those who protest against the system are often harrassed, arrested and jailed.
Freedom for Eurasia aims to shine a light on the kleptocracies of Central Asia by reporting on corruption, sanctions, human rights' abuses, crimes against humanity, and political prisoners.
