Behind Bars Calisthenics Academy was established in 2020 and runs a bunch of different free-to-access kids exercise programmes from our Ninja Warrior style facility in Birkenhead. With over 150 registered young participants, the community impact of our provision cannot be overstated. For example, our most popular project, Little Ninjas, runs several times a week and provides local kids aged 6 -12with the opportunity to exercise is a safe and supportive environment, with unique challenges, while making friends, with support from coaches and volunteers, and their parents watching from the sidelines.

Ordinarily, our projects are supported intermittently by national and regional organisations like the National Lottery or the Community Foundation, however, we have struggled tremendously this year to secure external financial assistance. With the ever-increasing pressure of the cost of living crisis, we remain determined not to attach a fixed entry fee to any of our classes. Nevertheless, we do need to start thinking outside the box to ensure the sustainability of our programs.

This JustGiving page provides parents and the local community with an option to donate and support the work we do at the Academy. Proceeds will go towards overheads of project delivery, including utilities and maintenance, with any remainder spent of new equipment for use in classes.
