I've raised £250 to provide meals for struggling families unable to Eat Out To Help Out

Throughout the pandemic and as we’ve emerged from lockdown, at E’Lupo’s we’ve been humbled by and are grateful for the support our small business has received.
We wanted to give something back, and so, for those families who are struggling, who perhaps wanted to #eatouttohelpout in August but simply couldn’t afford to, on Monday the 24th August we are hosting a *FREE* night for families of up to four, from 6pm until 8pm.
For those who might have lost their job, or are from a household with no earned income, are reliant upon state benefits, if their business hasn’t survived COVID-19 or if they have ever had to use a food bank, then we want to take care of their food bill for one night, just as our community has taken care of us.
Our staff have all volunteered to work for free.
We hadn’t intended on asking for any financial support from people, but since we announced our plan, our Facebook post has received over 50,000 views in 12 hours and we have had a large number of generous people asking to contribute towards the cost of a meal for a family. We want to give people the chance to show their support.
So, we are suggesting donations of £20 to purchase a gift voucher for each family, which, when used in conjunction with Eat Out to Help Out, will cover the cost of their meal at £40 per table.
We are not aiming to make any profit from this. Any surplus funds (we can only seat a limited number of people on the 24th) will be used to either buy more vouchers to gift to those who are struggling or we will donate them to a local food bank or shelter.
Thank you for your support.
