Story

To accommodate an expanding village, Burwell Village College Primary School has undergone a major rebuild over the last 18 months and weʼre aiming to raise £10,000 to help breathe new life into the original building as there was no provision in the budget for improvements to the existing school building. Planned regeneration includes 6 classrooms, and other key shared spaces. From decorating and carpets to furniture enabling us to create a pleasant stimulating learning environment for our children throughout the whole school.

The newly built school areas look amazing and are great spaces for our pupils to learn. However the old corridors, toilets, years 1 & 2 classrooms, the first aid room, music room, SENCO room, and servery are still in desperate need of basic decoration and new carpets / wipe clean flooring. The cost of replacing these is in excess of £10,000.

The Friends of Burwell Village College Primary launched the Burwell DIY SOS project to recruit parent helpers who were good at DIY and can plaster, fill in holes, and paint. Some of the areas have been completed but there is lots more to do. We have also launched monthly non-uniform days, as well as being supported by our local CO-OP and Bunnings Warehouse community projects, however these measures will not cover the full cost.

We are looking for any organisations that can help us reach our goal of creating a fantastic, finished school, in a clean working environment.

We would like to finish the project this academic year. Please get in touch with the FBVCP on our Facebook page if you can help in any way: https://www.facebook.com/friendsbvc
