I've raised £50000 to provide all-weather access to ancient woodland and meadows

We, the Friends of Oxleas Woodlands, need your help to provide an all-weather route around Jack Wood between Oxleas Meadow and Castle Wood Meadow (part of Oxleas Woodlands).
As more and more people discover the benefits of nature for their physical and mental wellbeing, Oxleas Woodlands with 130-hectares of woodland and meadow, has naturally been a great attraction. However, as we welcome more visitors, our pathways are deteriorating rapidly, resulting in precious habitats being fragmented by informal paths, verges are eroded as paths widen, tree roots are exposed and damaged, woodland flowers are trampled, nesting birds are disturbed and walking conditions have become hazardous.
All because our visitors are trying to avoid the muddy slippery paths. By improving the paths, we can improve both the woodland ecology and the visitor experience.
In 2022, an ecological survey estimated we need £150,000 to improve pathways in Jack Wood alone, to prevent further damage and to restore the ecology of the woodland.
Our project will have a huge impact in conserving this wonderful place and ensuring the future of the woodlands.
With your help we will help the recovery of the woodland plants, wildlife and fungi; provide more opportunities for improving both physical and mental health; improve access for visitors throughout the year; and improve access for buggies and mobility scooters wherever possible.
We have started work with support from Greenwich Council who have invested in two flights of steps on the middle path in Jack Wood and it will also fund the replacement of a bridge and 155meters of pathway on lower path.
£100 will pay for one meter of path, and we have another 500meters still to fund. Can you help?
To create a circular, all-weather route around Jack Wood we need to fund a further 500meters of path - we aim to keep this whole path step-free if possible. Each meter of path costs £100, so we need to raise £50,000 before next winter. Please donate to Oxleas Woodlands Pathways Project. Thank you.
