Story
Hello, we are The Friends of St Nicholas church. Many of you with connections to the area will know of the church already which has been part of the community for 800 years. As well as its religious and historical importance, the church yard has stunning views over the local area and provides beautiful, peaceful spaces for families and dog walkers. It is with a heavy heart that we report the recent vandalism that occured here. As you can see from the photos (in the comments/update section), benches have been broken, smashed glass has been left over the graveyard and small fires have burnt the grass. This group is raising money to restore the area in respect to those laid to rest here and to ensure our community can continue to use the space safely. The money donated will be used to replace broken benches, glass signage and windows. It will also be used to buy gardening tools that our volunteer group will use on Saturdays and to install security lighting.
We understand the enormous difficulties this last year has brought many of us. Many of us may not be in a position to finacially contribute but if anyone can donate time or skills to support us restoring this important landmark we would love to hear from you
Many thanks
