Story
In September 2003, as fresh faced 18 year olds, we commenced a degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich. Living together, studying together, partying together, we had the time of our lives. We have all continued to work as OTs and have remained firm friends ever since, met up regularly and joined in celebrations of marriage and the arrival of children.
20 years on, in July 2023, one of us - Marion (Maz) was devastatingly given the awful terminal diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This is a horrible disease with no cure. MND is a condition that significantly impacts a person's physical abilities, often necessitating substantial adjustments in the home environment.
One of Maz's primary wishes is to maintain her independence and continue living at home for as long as possible.
By fundraising we hope that it will help Maz and Craig fund equipment needed and contribute towards a wheelchair accessible vehicle. These are things will help Maz stay at home longer and maintain a sense of normalcy in the lives of their young children.
We hope that funds raised will also allow Maz and Craig to have the financial freedom to engage in activities that provide positive experiences and create special moments for their children to remember, and that Craig can tell them about as they grow up.
Our first event was a 62 mile/100km bike ride from Suffolk back to UEA, Norwich where our story began. We completed this on 21st October 2023.
Maz and Craig have given us their blessing to create this fundraising page for them. Other close friends who have created another crowdfunding page have also given their permission to use some of the same wording.
Funds raised are being sent directly to Maz and Craig by Justgiving.
Many thanks in advance for your support.
