I've raised £1000 to help fund repairs to Burrs Country Park following on from Storm Ciara

The Country Park started to take form when it was purchased by Bury Metropolitan Borough council in 1986. The conversion from a derelict mill to a flagship park took years to complete and there are historical sections which pay homage to the parks history such as the landmark chimney.
The park offers access to a vibrant caravan club site, a traditional pub, the popular cafe and a fairly new Railway Halt to access the famous East Lancashire Railway and their celebrity locomotives.
Friends of Burrs is represented by our mascot Burrnerd who likes to make sure that the dogs using the park are clean and friendly, He was designed by a local school child.
The damage caused to our park will cost well over £10,000 and because of little funding available for the local council to do the repairs, we are imploring the public, those who live locally and those who have travelled to the park, for businesses both small and large to help us restore the damage. The park means so much to Bury and was recently recognised by Fields in Trust as a ”Much Loved Park”, which Their website states...
Burrs is a lovely place - a mixture of open spaces and woodlands, river, ponds and canal. It is excellent for walking, running, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bird watching, nature study and picnicking. It has an excellent café and pub, and the heritage railway has a station in the park.
We know not everyone can help us but at a time when society is understanding the benefits of green and open spaces, we must try to care for the environment.
