Story

The Friends of Shotley Library want to keep our Pop-Up Library at the Village Hall, Shotley, Suffolk. We are a village 24 minutes away from the nearest Library in Ipswich. Our pop-up has all the facilities that a standard service does, a Librarian to help you browse, reserve and borrow books, inc, a computer reserved for those who don`t have access to one at home. We are doing our best to keep this valuable asset in our growing village, but the costs are almost £200 a week for the hall hire, Suffolk Library staff, fuel, marketing, and call costs.

Tot Rock starts at 10.30 am for babies and pre-schoolers, a time for new mums and their little ones to make lifelong friends. Lunch club is around midday for all ages, with conversations and time shared over food. This is particularly good for the lonely. The after-school club has Lego, a craft table and a chance for the children to decompress before the weekend. It is a fun day, with good people and welcoming for all ages and abilities, with hot drinks and snacks provided.
