Story
Frankie Rogers and Toby Davies are completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for two charities.
On the morning of Sunday 27th March, we will set out to summit Pen-y-Ghent (2,277ft), Whernside (2,415ft) and Ingleborough (2,372ft). This is a trek of 24.3 miles and with an elevation gain of 5,400ft. We aim to complete the route in under 12 hours total.
Having seen the latest footage coming from Ukraine and the incredible outpouring of charity from across the globe to assist with this humanitarian crisis, we will be donating 50% of the total money raised to DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
At least two million people have fled their homes to escape conflict in Ukraine. Leaving behind jobs, belongings and loved ones, they now face an uncertain future. It is estimated that a total of 4 million people expected are to be displaced due to the conflict in Ukraine. They need our help and they need it now.
DEC charities are in Ukraine and neighbouring countries meeting the needs of all refugees and displaced people:
£30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month
£50 could provide blankets for four families
£100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month
The other 50% of monies raised will be donated to the local charity HUG ON A TRAY. They are group of 8 who visit the Bexley Wing at St James’s Hospital in Leeds. They have managed to provide both wards J88 & J89 with free TV, saving each patient £10 per day. However, in order to rent TVs for patients in 2 wards, (40 TV places in total), it costs £26,400 a year.
They also give a “Hug on a Tray” which consists of each patient receiving on arrival, and topped up at will, a melamine tray, two china beakers, and a goodie bag with everything needed for them and their visiting families to make a hot drink and snack & biscuits & sweets.
Both charities are doing incredible work, one on a global scale, one on a local scale. Please donate anything you can that will help us reach our goal.
We will reach the top of those three peaks!
