Story

Front line heroes are having to take unacceptable risks with little or no protection because of a lack of PPE. A mass shortage is putting people at risk, who are already putting their health at risk to save lives.

I wanted to do something, but am being socially shielded so have to stay at home, whilst other people take huge risks. That isn't good enough so I have joined forces with two amazing people, Alex and Emma, to try and raise enough money to print protection for people at risk.

They currently have 3 3D printer operating, and we aim to get to 10, with enough materials to print day and night.

It costs £400 a printer and £120 for enough material to print 240 masks.

So for £30 donated 60 masks can be made, enough for a shift at a small hospital.

If we reach £10000 that would mean an additional 7 printers and 14400 masks ready to send to people who need them.

Is there enough need?

Having put a very slight nudge out on social media, 10's of businesses and organisations reached out for masks. Newport Hospital said they will take as many as can be made. That's right, a hospital wants people in the community to print protection. This needs to be done.

So dig as deep as you can. We need to keep the front line safe, so they, in turn, can keep us safe.
